For the Single Vineyard Carmenère, our most basic conviction was to maintain low intervention to the terroir once we confirmed Peumo’s Don Manuel Vineyard superb quality.
The soils throughout Peumo have an interesting colluvial component, with the presence of sand, clay, and rock in the form of fine gravel which allows for a wide exploration of the root to find its minerals. This Carmenère justly expresses what Peumo is all about, with red, black, and spicy fruits and a delicate, elegant, and sophisticated tannin.
